APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Nov. 8

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Nov. 8 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Miscellaneous and Processed Products Import Manual: The following changes have been made to the Miscellaneous and Processed Products Import Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections. The specific changes are listed after the table numbers below.

  • Table 3-9 Avocado--fresh Mexican avocados with seeds removed: language was changed in the fourth column (Then:), fourth cell
  • Table 3-10 Avocado--frozen: cells were deleted from the fourth column
  • Table 3-13 Bags, bagging, and covers: "used" was added in the last two cells of the third column (And the bag or cover is made from:)
  • Table 3-81 Frozen fruits and vegetables (whole, sectioned, or sliced; their flesh or pulp): the FORMER second column (And its condition:) was deleted; action in the NEW fourth column (Then:), first cell was changed
  • Table 3-111 Mango--frozen: language in third column (And:), fourth cell was changed
  • Table 3-143 Rice (Oryza spp.) and its products: language regarding documentation evidence AND footnote indicator in the first column (If the rice is:), first, second, and third cells was changed; the FORMER third column (And the importer can;) was deleted; NEW footnote #2 has been added; language in second column (And:), first and second cells has been deleted; "Zaire" has been deleted from footnote #4 (now known as Democratic Republic of Congo)
  • Table 3-201 Wood packaging materials (WPM) NOT U.S. returned, NOR DoD sponsored, NOR in transit and if of foreign origin, that origin is OTHER THAN Canada: language in the last column (Then:), second cell has been changed

Links contained throughout the manual in the Table of Contents, List of Figures, List of Tables, and Index as well as internal and external cross-references and hyperlinks have all been updated as needed.
