APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Nov. 28

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Nov. 28 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Plants for Planting Manual: The Plants for Planting Manual interim edition (here) was updated, transmittal 11/2012-15, to revise the List of Bulbs and Underground Portions of Dormant Perennials that are Eligible for Preclearance and the List of Regulated Propagative Material. Revisions, indicated by a black change bar on each revised page, are as follows:

  • Page 4-1-181: Updated common names listed for Fragaria spp., Frangula purshiana, and Fremontodendron decumbens; deleted Fraxinus excelsior and Fraxinus latifolia (already covered under Fraxinus spp. EAB prohibition); added authority for Fraxinus spp.
  • Page 7-7: Added Bulbinella only the following species: Bulbinella latifolia, B. nutans, and B. codafelis
