APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Dec. 5

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Dec. 5 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Animal Product Manual: The following changes have been made to the Animal Product Manual (here) reflect up-to-date information and corrections. The specific changes are listed after the individual table number below.

Chapter 3-18 Pet Food and Livestock, Poultry, and Aquaculture Feed

  • Table 3-18-2 Pet food/animal feed (including chews, treats, and toys) additives and supplements - footnote numbering has been corrected

Links contained throughout the manual in the Table of Contents, List of Figures, List of Tables, Index, as well as internal and external cross-references and hyperlinks have all been updated as needed.

Manual for Agricultural Clearance: The online Manual for Agricultural Clearance (here) has been revised to update the following procedures:

  • Clearing aircraft
  • Clearing vessels
  • Assessing civil penalties

Changes are on the following pages:

  • Chapter 3: Examining Carriers: Section 2: Clearing Aircraft: Pages 3-2-1, 3-2-3 through 3-2-5, and 3-2-7 through 3-2-9.
  • Chapter 3: Examining Carriers: Section 3: Clearing Vessels: Pages 3-3-2, 3-3-4, 3-3-7, 3-3-9 through 3-3-14, 3-3-16, 3-3-17, 3-3-19, 3-3-20, and 3-3-23 through 3-3-27.
  • Chapter 8: Violations: Pages 8-1-1 through 8-1-18, and 8-1-22 through 8-1-26.
