APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Dec. 27

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Dec. 27 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Animal Product Manual: The following changes were made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections. The specific changes are listed after the individual figure, page, or table number below.

Chapter 3-17 Trophies

Table 3-17-12, Swine Trophies (Including Bones, Capes, Carcasses, Hides, and Skins) that Are Not Fully Taxidermy Finished from a Country Affected with ASF or Affected with ASF in Combination with FMD - Two bullets were deleted from the third column (And the articles are:), third cell

Appendix H List of Veterinarians

Table H-1-1, List of PPQ-QPAS-VRS Headquarters Personnel - Dr. Morris's title was corrected

Links contained throughout the manual in the Table of Contents, List of Figures, List of Tables, Index, and internal and external cross-references and hyperlinks were all updated as necessary.

CITES Timber Manual: The CITES Timber Species Manual (here) was updated, transmittal 12/2012-27, to revise information for PPQ CITES designated ports. Revisions, indicated by a black change bar in the left margin of each revised page, are as follows:

  • Page 5-1: Deleted old address and fax number; added new phone number for Alabama CITES Port and designated CITES staff
  • Page 5-2: Deleted old mailing address and added new phone and fax number for Georgia CITES Port and designated CITES staff
  • Page 5-3: Deleted old fax number and added new fax number for Mississippi designated CITES staff

Cross-references were also replaced in the manual.
