APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Feb. 15
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Feb. 15 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Animal Product Manual: The following changes were made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections. The specific changes are listed after the individual page number below.
Chapter 2-2 Procedures -- Clearing Regulated Cargo
- Page 2-2-8 and page 2-2-16 - references to Appendix E were deleted and replaced with hyperlinks to the Veterinary Services National Center for Import and Export Website
Chapter 2-3 Procedures -- Clearing Regulated Passenger Baggage
- Page 2-3-7 and page 2-3-14 - references to Appendix E were deleted and replaced with hyperlinks to the Veterinary Services National Center for Import and Export Website
Appendix E Establishments Approved to Receive and/or Process Restricted Imported Animal By-Products
- Throughout chapter - completely edited to direct users to the Veterinary Services National Center for Import and Export Website
Links contained throughout the manual in the Table of Contents, List of Figures, List of Tables, and Index as well as internal and external cross-references and hyperlinks were all updated as necessary.
Manual for Agricultural Clearance: The online Manual for Agricultural Clearance (here) was revised to update the following topics:
- Instruction on sending specimens for identification
- Sample letter to notify a firm or company that a violation was issued to an employee or crew member
