APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Feb. 27

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Feb. 27 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

FAVIR and Fruits and Vegetables Manual: FAVIR (here) and the Fruits and Vegetables Manual (here) were revised. The reason for the revision was to add strawberry to the list of approved commodities from Egypt (Docket APHIS-2012-0009 effective February 27, 2013).

Cut Flowers and Greenery: The online Cut Flowers and Greenery Import Manual (here) was revised to update the entry requirements for Chamaedorea spp. (palm) fronds. Changes to Table 3-12 on page 3-12 are indicated by a black change bar in the left page margin.
