APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for March 14

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes March 14 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Approved Dracaena Facilities: The list of Approved Dracaena spp. Facilities authorized to export Dracaena spp. from Costa Rica to the U.S. (here) was updated to remove six facilities and to add two newly-approved facilities. Revisions, indicated by a black change bar in the left margin of each revised page, are as follows:

  • Page 1: Added a new facility #4638
  • Page 3: Added a new facility #1140

Animal Product Manual: The following changes were made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections. The specific changes are listed below.

Chapter 3-5 Casings

  • Table 3-5-6 Ruminant Casings from a Country Known to be FREE from BSE - footnote indicators were corrected

Chapter 3-11 Foreign Origin Meat and Meat Products, Poultry

  • Throughout chapter - footnote indicators were corrected

Chapter 3-13 Foreign Origin Meat and Meat Products, Swine

  • Throughout chapter - footnote indicators were corrected

Appendix A Guide to Entry Status of Animal Products in Passenger Baggage or Mail

  • Page A-1-20 changes to Burma and Cuba
  • Page A-1-21 changes to Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales) and Ireland, Northern
  • Page A-1-22 changes to Ivory Coast
  • Page A-1-23 changes to Montenegro
