APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for March 19

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes March 19 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Treatment Manual: The Treatment Manual (here) was updated. There were several reasons for the update:

  • Revised the precooling statement for cold treated commodities (page 3-7-2)
  • Revised the imported fire ant treatments for domestic use (pages 5-8-8 through 5-8-17; Docket APHIS-2012-0064 Notice of Public Comment effective March 06, 2013 with comments due by May 6, 2013)
