APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for April 1

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes April 1 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Miscellaneous and Processed Products Manual: The following changes were made to the Miscellaneous and Processed Products Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections:

Table 3-178: Wheat-milled products and by-products concerning bunted kernels

  • "Groats" was deleted from first column bulleted list
  • Former footnote #4 was deleted
  • Footnote #3 was added to "freekh" to explain variations in spelling
  • Additional "freekh" spellings were added
  • Reference to the Seeds Not for Planting Manual was deleted

Table 3-179: Wheat--milled products and by-products

  • Table title was changed
  • "Groats" was deleted from first column bulleted list
  • Last row of third column was corrected
  • Former footnote #5 was deleted
  • Footnote #4 was added to "freekh" to explain variations in spelling
  • Second to last cell of fifth column was corrected
  • "Milled" was added to first and second column title cells
  • Additional "freekh" spellings were added to first and second cells, second column-language was corrected

Treatment Manual: The Treatment Manual (here) was updated. The reason for the update was to add Dupont Tyvec air cargo covers to the list of approved packaging materials. Revisions, indicated by black change bars in the left margin, are found on pages 2-3-7, 8-1-38 through 8-1-40, and H-51.
