APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for April 23

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes April 23 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Approved Dracaena Facilities List: The list of Approved Dracaena spp. Facilities authorized to export Dracaena spp. from Costa Rica to the continental United States (here) was updated, transmittal 04/2013-04, to add a facility. The revision, indicated by a black change bar in the left margin, is as follows:

  • Page 3: Added #1654, Ornamentales San Lorenzo

Animal Product Manual: The following changes were made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections. The specific changes are listed below.

Chapter 3-12 Foreign Origin Meat and Meat Products, Ruminants

  • Table 3-12-21 Fresh (chilled or frozen) meat of ruminants - "and" was added between the footnote indicators in the fifth column, first cell

Chapter 3-13 Foreign Origin Meat and Meat Products, Swine

  • Table 3-13-11 Cooked swine meat from Spain - language between the footnote indicators in the third column, third cell was changed

Miscellaneous and Processed Products Manual: The following changes were made to the Miscellaneous and Processed Products Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections. The specific changes are listed below.

Chapter 2 Procedures

  • Page 2-10 change "Inspecting Cork Bark" section was deleted

Chapter 3 Reference

  • Table 3-76 Dodder - content in the first column, title and first cells were changed
  • Table 3-170 Tea, herbal tea, herbal infusions, pasta, soups, and other concoctions to be boiled (dried) made from OTHER THAN bark, flowers, fruit or fruit peel, or leaves or WITH admissible bark, flowers, fruit or fruit peel, or leaves - "Crushed" was added to the first column, first cell
  • Table 3-200 Wood packaging materials (WPM) NOT U.S. returned, NOR DoD sponsored, NOR in transit, and if of foreign origin, that origin is OTHER THAN Canada - footnote #2 was edited for clarity
