APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for May 1

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes May 1 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Animal Product Manual: The following changes were made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections. The specific changes are listed below.

  • Throughout manual - PPQ-QPAS-VRS-HQ, VMO phone number and other contact information was corrected.
  • Table 3-15-10 Human Pharmaceuticals, Human Vaccines, Antivenom, Dietary Supplements, Organs and Their Derivatives, and Nutriceuticals Containing Animal-Derived Components - footnote reference was corrected on page 2, fifth column, second cell
  • Table 3-17-10 Ruminant Antler Trophies - table was edited for ease of understanding

Miscellaneous and Processed Products Manual: The following changes were made to the Miscellaneous and Processed Products Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections. The specific changes are listed below.

Table 3-154 Seeds (OTHER THAN nuts) that are processed (seeds with hulls removed) or manufactured into articles - page 2, third cell, first column (If the seed or nut is:) NEW footnote #5 was added
