GIPSA Revises Standards for Hard White Wheat

The Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration is revising the U.S. Standards for Wheat to change the definition of contrasting classes in Hard White wheat so Hard Red Winter wheat and Hard Red Spring wheat are no longer contrasting classes. The grade limits will remain unchanged, GIPSA said. The agency declined to implement its proposal to reduce grade limits for shrunken and broken kernels (SHBN) in U.S. No. 1 and U.S. No. 2 wheat (see 12041037). The change is effective May 1, 2014.
