APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for May 16

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes May 16 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Animal Product Manual: The following changes were made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections. The specific changes are listed below.

Appendix E Establishments Approved to Receive and/or Process Restricted Imported Animal By-Products

  • Page E-1-1 - language was added at the end of the IMPORTANT notice box

Approved Phalaenopsis Facilities: The list of Approved Phalaenopsis spp. in Growing Media Facilities (here) was updated, transmittal 05/2013-18, to add nine new greenhouses, to remove one greenhouse, and to change two grower's names. Revisions, indicated by a black change bar in the left margin of each revised page:

  • Page 1: Added a new grower/greenhouse
  • Page 2: Changed name from Hsu, Chun-Cheng to Dingping Agricultural Biotechnology Corporation (effective 9/25/2012); added a new grower/greenhouse
  • Page 3: Added two new growers/greenhouses
  • Page 5: Added three new greenhouses
  • Page 6: Removed one greenhouse and added one greenhouse; added a new grower/facility
  • Page 7: Changed name from Shen, Ling-Yu to Ya Bo Orchids (effective 12/27/2012)
