APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for May 20

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes May 20 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Treatment Manual: The Treatment Manual (here) was revised. The reason for the revision was to change the expiration date for the methyl bromide section 18 crisis exemption. The change is located on page 2-3-4.

FAVIR and Fruits and Vegetables Manual: FAVIR (here) and the Fruits and Vegetables Manual (here) were revised. The reason for the revision was to add a papaya orchard to the list of approved growers for papaya from Chiapas. The new orchard is El Vigor, located in the municipality of Suchiate, Chiapas.

Miscellaneous and Processed Products Manual: The following changes were made to the Miscellaneous and Processed Products Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections. The specific changes are listed below.

  • Table 3-182 Wood and wood products navigation table - actions have been altered in the second and third cells in the last column (Then:); language was added in the third and fourth cells in the fourth column (And made from wooden logs, limbs, branches, trunks, or twigs that are:); language was added to footnote #1; NEW footnote #2 was added

Canadian Border Clearance Manual: The online Canadian Border Agricultural Clearance Manual (here) was revised to remove requirements for Asian longhorned beetle host material from Canada. Changes are on pages 3-11 and 3-47 of Chapter 3: Plant.
