APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for June 3

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes June 3 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Canadian Border Manual: The online Canadian Border Agricultural Clearance Manual (here) was revised to provide current information on requirements for the controlled import permit (CIP), effective June 3, 2013. Changes, indicated by black change bars in the left page margins, are on the following pages:

  • Chapter 3: Plant: Pages 3-64 and 3-66 through 3-68.
  • Chapter 5: Procedures: Page 5-2.

Cut Flowers and Greenery: The online Cut Flowers and Greenery Import Manual (here) was revised to provide current information on requirements for the controlled import permit (CIP), effective June 3, 2013. Changes, indicated by black change bars in the left page margins, are on the following pages:

  • Chapter 2: Procedures: Pages 2-6 and 2-7.
  • Appendix A: Permits and Foreign Phytosanitary Certificates: Pages A-1, A-5, and A-7 through A-9.

Manual for Agricultural Clearance: The online Manual for Agricultural Clearance (here) was revised to provide current information on requirements for the controlled import permit (CIP), effective June 3, 2013. Changes are on the following pages:

  • Chapter 2: Examining and Monitoring Cargo: Section 1: Clearing Imported Cargo and Inspecting Cargo Holds: Pages 2-1-1, 2-1-9, and 2-1-10.
  • Appendix A: Completing and Distributing Forms: Pages A-1-47, A-1-82, and A-1-107.
  • Appendix L: Plant Inspection Stations and CITES Ports: Page L-1-1.
