APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for June 10

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes June 10 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Approved Papaya Orchards List: The list of approved papaya orchards in Chiapas, Mexico (here) was updated. Two orchards were added (Rancho El Rocio and San Jose) and one orchard has been removed (Santa Clara).

Animal Product Manual: The following changes were made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections. The specific changes are listed below.

Appendix G Certificates and Permits

  • Figure G-1-31 and G-1-32 Example of CFIA Annex A-9, Veterinary Certificate for Poultry Meat Products - document has been replaced with an updated version

Appendix H List of Veterinarians

  • Table H-1-2 PPQ-AQI-VMOs - contact information for Dr. Bovard has been corrected

Plants for Planting Manual: The Plants for Planting Manual, Int. Ed., (here) was updated, transmittal 06/2013-20, to add NAPPRA Round 1 and Federal Order DA-2013-18, for the Importation of Host Material of Anoplophora chinensis (CLB) and the Anoplophora glabripennis (ALB) effective May 20, 2013. Revisions, indicated by a black change bar on each revised page, are as follows:

  • Pages 2-17 through 2-24: Deleted old and added new Federal Order information for regulating host material of CLB and ALB
  • Pages 2-30 and 2-31: Added summaries of Emergency Orders summaries (moved from chapter 4)
  • Page 2-31 through 2-34: Added summaries of Federal Orders (moved from chapter 4) and included Federal Order DA-2013-18 summary
  • Page 2-35: Added Not Enterable Pending Pest Risk Analysis (NAPPRA) information
  • Page 4-1: Added NAPPRA to Table 4-1
  • Chapter 4: Deleted old information and added new NAPPRA Round 1 and/or CLB/ALB Federal Order plant material, restrictions and authority; added cross-references and made other formatting changes throughout the chapter
