APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Oct. 6
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Oct. 6 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Animal Product Manual: The following changes have been made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections. Specific changes are listed below.
Chapter 3-11 Human Pharmaceuticals and Human Vaccines
- Table 3-11-3 Human Pharmaceutical, Human Vaccines, Antivenom, Dietary Supplements, Organs and Their Derivatives, and Nutriceuticals Containing Animal-Derived Components - (page 1 of 3) "non-FDA-approved/licensed human pharmaceuticals" has been added to the first row in the second column (And the product is:); (page 2 of 3) "non-FDA-approved/licensed human pharmaceuticals" has been added to the second row in the second column (And the product is:); (page 3 of 3) "non-FDA-approved/licensed human pharmaceuticals" has been added to the first row in the second column (And the product is:); footnote #1 Web site link has been corrected
Chapter 3-19 Swine Meat
- Table 3-19-23 Cured and Dried Pork Products from Spain - footnote #5, certificate citation has been updated
FAVIR and Fruits and Vegetables Manual: The FAVIR database (here) and the Fruits and Vegetables Manual (here) have been updated. There were several reasons for the update:
- Add blueberry to the list of admissible commodities from Morocco (Docket No. APHIS-2013-0016) *NOTE: At this time, import permits will not be issued. Until program requirements are finalized, the commodities will not be authorized entry into the United States.
- Revise the import requirements for mango from the Philippines (Docket No. APHIS-2013-0057) *NOTE: At this time, import permits will not be issued. Until program requirements are finalized, the commodities will not be authorized entry into the United States.
- Add litchi and longan to the list of admissible commodities from Viet Nam (Docket No. APHIS-2010-0116)
In the manual, revisions are located on pages 3-215, 3-216, 3-249, 3-249, and 3-328.
Treatment Manual: The USDA APHIS PPQ Treatment Manual (here) has been revised. There were several reasons for the revision:
- Add mango from the Philippines to irradiation schedules T105-a-1, T105-a-3, and T105-a-4 (Docket No. APHIS-2013-0057)
- Add a new irradiation schedule T105-a-4 (165 Gy). (Docket No. APHIS-2013-0057)
- Add litchi and longan from Viet Nam to irradiation schedule T105-a-2 (Docket No. APHIS-2010-0116)
Revisions, indicated by black change bars in the left margin, are located on pages 5-2-72 through 5-2-74.
