APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Oct. 20-23

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Oct. 20-23 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Seeds Not for Planting: The Seeds Not for Planting Manual (here) has been updated, 10/2015-84. Revisions, indicated by a black change bar in the left margin of each revised page, are as follows:

  • Page 2-16: Added to Table 2-8, hibiscus and okra if contaminants; separated plant contaminant is not identifiable
  • Page 2-9: Changed last row of Table 2-9 to other than listed in
  • Page 3-27, Hibiscus (Hibiscus spp.): Revised first sentence; added is intended to first row; added new second row for is a contaminant/inspect and release
  • Page 3-43, Oka (Abelmoschus spp.): Revised first sentence; added is intended to first row; added new second row for is a contaminant/inspect and release; changed footnote first row from that to and

FAVIR and Fruits and Vegetables Manual: FAVIR (here) and the Fruits and Vegetables Manual (here) have been updated to align with Docket No. APHIS-2015-0012 published October 23, 2015, and effective immediately. Changes in the manual are located on pages 3-157 and 3-158.
