APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Nov. 23-27
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Nov. 23-27 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

FAVIR and Fruits and Vegetables Manual: FAVIR (here) and the Fruits and Vegetables Manual (here) have been updated. There were several reasons for the update:
- Ecuador Pepper: Add peppers to the list of approved commodities from Ecuador (Docket No. APHIS-2014-0086 published October 23, 2015, and effective November 23, 2015). NOTE: At this time, import permits will not be issued. Until program requirements are finalized, the commodities will not be authorized entry into the United States.
- Spain Cucumber: Correct the approved areas in Spain for cucumber
- Chile blueberry and cherry: Clarify the preclearance information for blueberries and cherries from Chile
Animal Product Manual: The following changes have been made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections:
Appendix A Guide to Entry Status of Animal Products in Passenger Baggage
- NEW Table A-1-16 Products for Personal Use Enterable in Passenger Baggage from Any Country - NEW table has been added
Appendix H List of Veterinarians
- Table H-1-1 PPQ-QPAS-VRS-Headquarters Personnel Contact Information - Dr. Paul Whippo has been added to the table
