APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Nov. 4

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Nov. 4 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables and flowers.

Animal Product Manual: The following changes have been made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections:

Chapter 3-4 Camelid and Cervid Products

  • Table 3-4-3 Antlers OTHER THAN Trophies -- NEW second column has been added

Chapter 3-19 Swine Products

  • Table 3-19-20 Cooked Swine Meat Shipped from a Country or Region Considered FMD/SR -- first three bullets in footnote #1 have been replaced
  • Table 3-19-21 Cooked Swine Meat from a Country or Region Considered SVD/SR -- 9 CFR citation in the first bullet of footnote #1 has been corrected

Treatment Manual: A document (here) has been added to the USDA APHIS PPQ Manuals Unit web site. The document supplements the 10-20-16 update to the Treatment Manual (here) describing changes based on new methyl bromide labeling instructions. This supplemental information is a brief summary of changes for existing methyl bromide labels and new methyl bromide labels. Refer to individual chapters in the Treatment Manual and the methyl bromide manufacturer labels for more detailed information.
