APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Dec. 1

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Dec. 1 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables and flowers.

Phytophthora Facilities List: The Approved Facilities for Hosts of Phytophthora ramorum list (here) has been updated, 11/2016-20, to add newly approved facility numbers 20937 and 21088. The importation of host plants for planting (except seeds) listed in the Plants for Planting Manual from a country where Phytophthora ramorum (sudden oak death) is present may enter the United States only if sent from an APHIS approved facility.

Export Program Manual: The Export Program Manual (XPM) (here) has been updated as follows:

Section 4-3 -- Special Procedures -- Commodity -- Grain (Federal Grain Inspection Service (FGIS)), Page 4-3-4

  • Gossypium sp. has been added to table 4-3-1, Species that FGIS Can Inspect

Updates are indicated by change bars on the left-hand margin of the manual.
