APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Dec. 7

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Dec. 7 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables and flowers.

CITES Timber Species: The CITES Timber Species Manual (here) has been updated, 12/2016-53, to correct the distribution of CITES documents for imports. Revisions, indicated by a black change bar in the left margin, are as follows:

  • Page 2-114: Added last sentence to first paragraph (previously listed in removed notice box); changed photocopies to copies
  • Page 2-115: Changed distribution of CITES documents for importation of CITES material to give an endorsed copy of the original CITES document to the importer/agent; send the original endorsed CITES document to U.S. FWS.
