APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Jan. 3

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Jan. 3 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables and flowers.

Miscellaneous and Processed Products: The following changes have been made to the Miscellaneous and Processed Products Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections:

Chapter 3 Reference

  • Table 3-108 Guitar, rosewood, and other articles made from rosewood (Dalbergia nigra) -- language in the first row, third column has been revised.
  • Table 3-168 Wood packaging material (WPM) lacking ISPM 15 mark -- language in the third row, fourth column and in footnote #6 has been revised.

Appendix A List of Trees and Classifications

  • Table A-2 Alphabetical List of Trees by Scientific Name -- entire table has been revised to mirror information in the CITES Manual as well as direct users to the CITES Manual for the most up-to-date information.
  • FORMER Table A-3 Alphabetical List of Trees by Common Name -- table has been deleted.

Seeds Not for Planting: The Seeds Not for Planting Manual (here) has been revised to reflect up-to-date information and corrections:

Chapter 3 Reference

  • Table 3-36 USDA Approved Heat Treatment Facilities for Niger Seed -- IMCO Agro Industries PLC address and certification date have been revised.
