APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Jan. 9

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Jan. 9 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables and flowers.

Animal Product Manual: The following changes have been made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections:

Chapter 3-17 Ruminant Products

  • Table 3-17-17 Cooked Ruminant Meat Identified as an IQF Product from a Country Known to be Affected with FMD ONLY -- language in footnote #1 has been revised

Appendix A Guide to Entry Status of Animal Products in Passenger Baggage

  • Table A-1-8 Birds' Nests in Passenger Baggage -- (page 2 of 2) language in the second and third rows, last column, has been revised

Appendix B List of Animal Names and Their Classes

  • Page B-1-6 under J heading -- "Javelinas" class has been changed to "ns"
  • Page B-1-9 under P heading -- "Pecaris" and "Peccaries" classes have been changed to "ns"
