The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative moved Bryant Trick from acting assistant to assistant USTR for Europe and the Middle East, it said in a Dec. 11 news release. Prior to taking on the acting role in September, Trick, who has been at USTR for over 15 years, was deputy assistant USTR for Korea, USTR said.
Ted Sherman joined Hasbro as senior director for global trade compliance, he said in a post on LinkedIn. Sherman, who sits on the American Association of Exporters and Importers executive committee, was previously at Medtronic and Target.
Laura Murphy, director of the forced labor lab at Sheffield Hallam University that identified many of the goods now targeted under the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, has joined DHS as a policy adviser to Robert Silvers, undersecretary for strategy, policy and plans.
Seko Logistics promoted Lila Landis to global chief compliance officer, the company said in a news release. In the newly created role, Landis will be “responsible for overseeing compliance activities globally and integrating compliance teams in EMEA, Australia, the Americas along with other SEKO locations to better support the company’s global operations and multinational clients,” the release said.
Cindy Allen relaunched her consulting firm Trade Force Multiplier, following her recent departure from her role as vice president of regulatory affairs and compliance at FedEx Logistics (see 2309070056). Trade Force Multiplier offers “a range of services,” including “identifying company and compliance risks utilizing data analysis,” advising on trade-related investments and merger and acquisition activity, and providing “governmental agency and legislative insights and engagement services,” according to the new firm’s website. Allen, who previously led CBP’s ACE Business Office, formed a consultancy under the same name prior to joining FedEx (see 1510210076).
Deputy U.S. Trade Representative Jayme White, whose portfolio covers Europe, the Western Hemisphere and the Middle East, is leaving his position, with his last day Nov. 1, the office announced.
Former International Trade Commissioner Raldolph Stayin will join Buchanan Ingersoll in the international trade and national security practice, the firm said. The ITC announced Stayin's departure Oct. 19. His term would have expired in June 2026 (see 2310190048).
The International Trade Commission on Oct. 18 announced the departure of Commissioner Randolph Stayin, who will "return to private practice." The departure leaves the commission with only four of a possible six active commissioners. Stayin was confirmed by the Senate Aug. 1, 2019, and was set to serve until 2026. He served as vice chairman of the commission between June 2020 and June 2022.
Russell Semmel, former international trade attorney at Bryan Cave, has joined Sandler Travis as of counsel in the Miami office, the firm announced in an email. His practice will center on international trade law, regulation and policy matters, including tariff classification, economic sanctions and free trade agreements, among other things. Semmel worked at Bryan Cave for the past two years as counsel, and before that at ArentFox as a trade attorney.
Lydia Childre, former international trade and logistics senior associate at Venable, has joined boutique trade law firm Lighthill, the firm announced on LinkedIn. Childre worked at Venable for nearly two years after serving as a senior project adviser on Section 232 steel and aluminum tariffs at the Commerce Department's International Trade Administration. Her practice at Lighthill will center on "national security and trade policy," the firm said. Lighthill was founded earlier this year by former Crowell & Moring attorney John Anwesen (see 2307050026).
