Clear Terms

Search Primer

Multi-word term: Place inside quotes to ensure an exact match together (e.g. "China import").

Term list: Separate terms with spaces, not commas or semicolons to find either word (e.g. AD/CVD antidumping).

Acronyms: Use all capital letters (e.g., ACE).

Required term: If a term must be included in any resulting articles, prefix it with a plus sign (e.g., CBP +releases).

Excluded term: If a term should be excluded from any articles being found, prefix it with a minus sign (e.g., -ruling).

Singular form: Use the singular form when doing multi-word terms (e.g. "russian export control" instead of "russian export controls").

Shortest word form: When you have different word forms in a quoted term, include the shortest version if it is the last part of the expression (e.g., "entity list" instead of "entity listing" or "entity listed").

CBP Releases Jan. 1 Customs Bulletin

CBP has released its Jan. 1 Customs Bulletin (Vol. 59, No. 1). It contains two notices of information collection activities, one related to the declaration of free entry of returned American products (CBP Form 3311), and the other on documentation requirements for articles entered under various special tariff treatment provisions -- that is, articles classified under subheadings 9801.00.10, 9802.00.20, 9802.00.40, 9802.00.50, 9802.00.60 and 9817.00.40.

Jan. 9 Day of Mourning Will Affect Payments to CBP

With President Joe Biden's declaration of Jan. 9 as a national day of mourning to commemorate the death of former President Jimmy Carter, CBP also will declare the date a holiday, according to a cargo systems message. "Any entries previously transmitted with a payment due date of 01/09/2025 will appear on a statement on 01/10/2025. That means two separate statements may be generated on 01/10/2025," CBP said. "Filers who wish to change the payment print date from January 9 to January 10 for previously transmitted summaries may do so at their discretion."
