The ITC on Dec. 27 began a Section 337 investigation into allegations from KUB Technologies that imports of X-ray and optical camera systems are infringing on its patents, the ITC said in a news release (Inv. No. 337-TA-1348). In its Nov. 23 complaint, Kubtec alleged four Chinese and one U.S. company imported cabinet X-ray systems that copied Kubtec's patented technology for rapid-result X-ray images (see 2211290044). The ITC will consider a limited exclusion order and cease and desist orders against CompAI Healthcare (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd.; CompAI Healthcare (Suzhou) Co., Ltd.; Kangpai Medical Technology (Changchun) Co., Ltd.; Kangpai (Beijing) Medical Equipment Co., Ltd.; and Dilon Technologies, Inc.
Just ahead of a change in control at the House Ways and Means Committee, the International Trade Commission issued a comprehensive report on how trade preference programs such as HOPE and HELP and the Caribbean Basin Trade Partnership Act have affected the Haitian economy. The Commerce Department is revoking antidumping duties on hot-rolled steel flat products from Brazil (A-351-845/C-351-846), after the ITC in October found revocation of the orders would not lead to a resumption of injury to domestic industry (see 2210210058), Commerce said in a notice. Effective for entries on or after Oct. 3, 2021, Commerce will direct CBP to end suspension of liquidation and collection of AD/CVD cash deposits in connection with the now defunct AD/CVD orders, which had been in place since 2016. Entries before Oct. 3, 2021, will remain subject to suspension of liquidation and AD/CVD cash deposit requirements and assessments, Commerce said.
