Chinese drone maker DJI urged the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to compel the Pentagon to provide its counsel with classified information in the company's suit against its designation as a Chinese military company. DJI argued that the information is "undoubtedly" relevant since DOD used it as the basis for DJI's designation, and that disclosure is needed because the court can't evaluate the designation without access to the "very information on which that designation is based" (SZ DJI Technology Co. v. U.S. Department of Defense, D.D.C. # 24-02970).
The Senate Finance Committee voted 14-13 along party lines March 14 to approve Michael Faulkender as deputy treasury secretary, sending his nomination to the full Senate for its consideration. The vote came eight days after Faulkender testified before the committee on his nomination (see 2503060069). CBP has updated a license code in the Automated Export System for shipments involving export licenses by partner government agencies that aren’t incorporated in AES, it said in a March 13 CSMS message. Exporters should use License Code OPA (Other Partnership Agency) to give CBP a “heads-up that some paper documentation is required by another Federal agency not accommodated in AES,” according to the agency, such as the Drug Enforcement Agency or the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Licenses from the Bureau of Industry and Security, the Office of Foreign Assets Control, the State Department, the Energy Department and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission “cannot be used with license type” OPA, CBP said in the CSMS message.

The Federal Maritime Commission is investigating how transit constraints at several “maritime chokepoints” around the world may be affecting ocean shipping and whether those constraints have been caused by foreign governments or foreign-flagged ships. The commission is specifically looking into constraints on ships traveling through the English Channel, the Malacca Strait, the Northern Sea Passage, the Singapore Strait, the Panama Canal, the Strait of Gibraltar and the Suez Canal, it said in a Federal Register notice released March 13. It said it may hold hearings, issue subpoenas or order testimony through depositions.
The U.K. on March 13 revoked the antidumping duty order on chamois leather from China after the Trade Remedies Authority conducted a transition review of the order and found that there were no U.K. producers of the subject merchandise in the period of investigation. The duties were revoked for goods falling under U.K. global tariff commodity codes 4114.10.10.00 and 4114.10.90.00.
