Section 301 tariff exclusions

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative has established an exclusion process for Section 301 tariffs on China. In a series of rounds since the tariffs took effect, importers have been able to request exclusions from the tariffs, as well as extensions to existing exclusions. Many exclusions have been allowed to expire, as well. Section 301 exclusions are applicable to all importers of a given good, which may be defined as an entire tariff schedule subheading or a subset of a subheading outlined in a written description.

Clear Terms

Search Primer

Multi-word term: Place inside quotes to ensure an exact match together (e.g. "China import").

Term list: Separate terms with spaces, not commas or semicolons to find either word (e.g. AD/CVD antidumping).

Acronyms: Use all capital letters (e.g., ACE).

Required term: If a term must be included in any resulting articles, prefix it with a plus sign (e.g., CBP +releases).

Canada Softwood Lumber: Amended Final Results of AD Admin Review

The Commerce Department is amending the final results published July 29 of the antidumping administrative review on softwood lumber products from Canada (A-122-857). The agency heard from Canfor and West Fraser, the mandatory respondents in the review that pointed out errors in a calculation Commerce used in arriving at the AD rates, after the final results for setting assessments of AD on importers for subject merchandise entered Jan. 1, 2023, through Dec. 31, 2023, were published.

Senators Urge White House to Accept Secondary Tariffs Bill

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., the leading Republican for a secondary tariffs bill supported by 85 senators, said that he talked to President Donald Trump on Sept. 11 about "moving forward" with secondary tariffs on countries that buy Russian oil and gas. He said he was encouraging him to look upon the Russia sanctions bill as something that would help him, "basically, giving him the authority to do what he's doing, which would help him in court."
