US Export Controls

U.S. export controls include those imposed on dual-use goods under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) by the Commerce Department's Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), as well as controls on exports of defense articles and services by the State Department's Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) under the International and Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). The control lists administered by these agencies are the Commerce Control List (CCL) and the U.S. Munitions List (USML), respectively.

Clear Terms

Search Primer

Multi-word term: Place inside quotes to ensure an exact match together (e.g. "China import").

Term list: Separate terms with spaces, not commas or semicolons to find either word (e.g. AD/CVD antidumping).

Acronyms: Use all capital letters (e.g., ACE).

Required term: If a term must be included in any resulting articles, prefix it with a plus sign (e.g., CBP +releases).

Excluded term: If a term should be excluded from any articles being found, prefix it with a minus sign (e.g., -ruling).

Singular form: Use the singular form when doing multi-word terms (e.g. "russian export control" instead of "russian export controls").

Domestic Producer Raises Several Issues With Thai Boltless Steel Shelves AD Investigation

In a Dec. 3 motion for judgment before the Court of International Trade, domestic producer Edsal Manufacturing again (see 2407120060) said that the Commerce Department should have used the more comparable surrogate it suggested in an antidumping duty investigation on boltless steel shelves from Thailand (Edsal Manufacturing Co. v. U.S., CIT # 24-00108).

Melamine: Commerce Issues Final CVD Determinations for Germany, Qatar and Trinidad

The Commerce Department issued its final determinations in its countervailing duty investigations on melamine from Germany (C-428-853), Qatar (C-518-002) and Trinidad and Tobago (C-274-811). Suspension of liquidation is currently not in effect for entries on or after Nov. 19, 2024, and Commerce will require cash deposits of estimated CV duties on future entries only if it issues a CV duty order.
