The Commerce Department is amending the final results of the antidumping duty administrative review on certain carbon and alloy steel cut-to-length plate from Italy (A-475-834) covering the period May 1, 2022, through April 30, 2023, that were published June 7, to correct a ministerial error in a calculation, which results in a lower AD cash deposit rate for a mandatory respondent to the review.
CBP announced an Enforce and Protect Act investigation and said it has reasonable suspicion that Broadcreek Marketing Associates, Dorado Surfaces, Kingka Cabinet and Multistone Enterprises evaded the antidumping and countervailing duty orders on quartz surface products from China. The agency enacted interim measures against the importers.
Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo told the House Energy and Commerce Committee that the content of a rule on connected vehicles made by Chinese companies hasn't been decided yet, but she said the more she learns about the ability for surveillance by advanced cars, the more it scares her.

CBP announced a new Enforce and Protect Act investigation, saying it has reasonable suspicion that Global Natural Ingredients evaded the antidumping and countervailing duty orders on xanthan gum from China and it has enacted interim measures against the importer.
The Commerce Department is amending the final results of the countervailing duty administrative review on crystalline silicon photovoltaic products from China (C-570-011), covering the period Jan. 1, 2021, through Dec. 31, 2021, based on the March 21, 2024, final decision in a court case challenging those final results. Commerce calculated a revised CVD rate for the only company under review, Trina Solar (Changzhou) Science & Technology Co., Ltd. and its cross-owned affiliates, of 9.02%, down from 13.21% in the original final results (see 2309120035). That new rate is applicable March 31, 2024, and the revised cash deposit rate is also effective on that date.
USDA has suspended until further notice the inspection of avocados and mangos originating from the western Mexico state of Michoacan.
The Court of International Trade dismissed importer Greentech Energy Solutions' challenge to antidumping and countervailing duties on Chinese solar cells to its Vietnamese solar cell entries for lack of subject-matter jurisdiction under Section 1581(i), the court's "residual" jurisdiction.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission is extending until Aug. 1 the comment period on proposed amendments to revise existing product safety standards for bassinets and cradles (see 2404150038), the agency said in a notice released June 17, the original comment deadline. CPSC said the extension will "ensure that the rule addresses identified hazards and that these sleep products for young infants provide the highest level of safety feasible."
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit on June 14 denied Albion Engineering Co.'s expedited motion to stay an injunction pending the appeal of Newborn Bros. Co.'s suit against Albion for unfair competition (Newborn Bros. Co. v. United States, 3rd Cir. # 24-1548).
