According to Gov.cn, China's Ministry of Commerce reported robust trade growth with emerging markets in 2010. China's trade with member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) increased 37.5 percent year on year in 2010. Its trade with Brazil climbed 47.5 percent year on year. In addition, Chinese trade with Russia expanded 43.1 percent year on year while that with South Africa grew 59.5 percent. Trade with India increased 42.4 percent year on year.

The World Economic Forum announces that a coalition of business, governments and farmers have launched a strategy to significantly increase food production while conserving environmental resources and spurring economic growth. The approach is already being implemented in two countries, Tanzania and Vietnam. Led by 17 global companies, the strategy sets ambitious targets for collective action to increase production by 20%, decrease greenhouse gas emissions by 20%, and reduce rural poverty by 20% each decade.

The World Customs Organization's Secretary General welcomes growing interest in a new tool to combat counterfeiting and piracy, Interface Public-Members (IPM), launched in June 2010. IPM consists of an online database enabling Rights Holders to provide Customs field officers with real-time data on their products as well as information making it possible to distinguish between “genuine” and “fake” goods. WCO expects up to 400 rights holders to have signed up to the IPM by the end of 2011 based on feedback obtained and agreements signed.
